Trainee Advanced Paediatric Healthcare Science Practitioner Full-time, permanent – Training Band 6 to Band 7 level We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Paediatric Audiologist who would like to train to specialise in paediatrics and join our friendly audiology team. The training role includes both practical training and completion of a Master’s level education in this specialist area.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a service that provides care for adults and children, and the role offers the chance to practice other aspects of audiology alongside its paediatric focus. We’re also happy to support applications for STP equivalence via the Academy of Healthcare Science. The role is perfectly suited for candidates looking to develop their leadership skills. It comes with a variety of responsibilities related to quality assurance, supervision, and service development. Please note, this is not an STP (Scientist Training Programme) training post.

Please be advised that the interviews for this post are due to take place in early January 2026. Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

Main duties of the job

  • As an audiologist with a pediatric specialism, you’ll be training and developing expertise in pediatric assessment and re/rehabilitation.
  • You’ll also have the option to develop other clinical interests, including tinnitus and vestibular services.
  • The role may include line management responsibilities and will offer opportunities to develop and lead on innovative projects within the team.
  • As a senior clinician, the successful candidate will be supported to develop their leadership skills through further training and professional development.
  • The post-holder will develop specialist knowledge and experience within the clinic and through a Master’s level qualification and additional CPD activity.
  • You should have BAAT I and II or BSc Audiology Qualification and significant NHS experience, with either HCPC or RCCP registration to be considered for this role.

Job responsibilities

  • It is anticipated that the training for this post will not exceed 2 years
  • The role will include a specific, highly specialist clinical specialism within Audiology
  • To train to act as an autonomous practitioner within their own scope of practice, to evaluate requests and carry out a range of audiologic paediatric assessment and rehabilitation consultations across a variety of patient pathways, consistently meeting the required department and national standards
  • To produce high-quality, independent reports ensuring compliance with departmental and national standards.
  • To train to interpret complex audiologic or Evoked Response Audiometry test results and history to identify conditions within their own scope of practice or offer recommendations regarding patient management to professionals when care is beyond their scope of practice.
  • To provide teaching and training for areas within their scope of practice.
  • To support the Service leads in the day-to-day organisation of the Audiology service in accordance with Trust / departmental protocols.
  • Supporting the Advanced Audiologist/ Clinical Scientists to ensure the Audiology Vertical Monitoring and Horizontal Audit (VMHA) programme is completed on schedule.
  • To support the Audiology quality lead in maintaining UKAS accreditation.
