The D&I Systems Operations Lead will be responsible for the overall management and performance of the Systems Operations team. Ensures that the Systems Manager is informed about the operational capacity and functionality of the server estate. This includes improvements, risks, changes, and problems. Manages multiple infrastructure projects, delivery of new initiatives, and is responsible for DR and BC planning, within the remit of the Systems Operations Team. Line manages Systems Operations engineers. Provides expert guidance and technical leadership to junior, senior, and advanced engineers. Lead on investigating a range of specialist and complex D&I issues, following the relevant technical strategies, policies, standards, and practices. Responsible for ensuring a structured approach for problem, incident, and change management processes. Primarily remote working with some on-site duties as and when required. The role is part of the on-call Systems rota.

Person Specification

Graduate calibre professional with proven experience managing enterprise-scale server infrastructures.

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant demonstrable experience

Desirable

  • Equivalent demonstrable experience in managing enterprise-class server infrastructure
  • Experience in leading technical teams from inception to delivery of projects and new systems.

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience in leading technical teams from inception to delivery of projects and new systems

Desirable

  • Previous demonstrable employment in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience of managing large-scale, complex systems and planning system migrations/ refreshes.

Essential

  • Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) or equivalent relevant demonstrable experience

Desirable

  • Demonstrable experience of project management/technical leadership
  • Working within the Trusts, with other NHS Trusts, national forums and technology specific groups.

Essential

  • Networking: being able to work within the Trusts, with other NHS Trusts, national forums and technology specific groups
  • Knowledge and experience of the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) standard.
