Are you a band 5 or 6 looking to gain further rotational experience in the acute setting? We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5/6 Occupational Therapist to join our friendly, innovative, and dynamic Therapies team at Kettering General Hospital.

The Therapy team holds a high profile within the wider trust and is at the forefront of many service development strategies, continually developing and introducing new, pioneering prospects for the service.

Our Therapy Service provides high-quality assessment and treatment, beginning in A&E and Urgent Care areas, following patients through to the wards (Specialties include Acute Medicine, Endocrinology, Care of the Elderly, Haematology, Cardiorespiratory, Surgery, Orthopaedics – trauma, elective, and hand therapy).

Main duties of the job

Please apply for the following post if you are:

  • recently qualified Band 5, who will be interested in an accelerated Band 5 to 6 Development Programme – this is a supported programme focusing on developing your leadership skills and practice development training while consolidating your clinical experience. You will have regular supervision to facilitate your personal and professional development from band 5 to band 6.
  • An existing Band 6 looking for the next step in your career, or to gain some more experience to consolidate and develop your existing clinical and leadership skills further.

All posts are supported with regular supervision, in-service training, leadership development programmes and appraisals.

This post is 37.5 hours, and all posts will be expected to work across seven days

Person Specification

Education, Training, and Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist level or equivalent level of education, training, or experience
  • Evidence of postgraduate CPD, including attendance at recent relevant postgraduate learning events

Desirable

  • Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapy
  • Student Education Training

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Diverse experience as a Band 5 across health settings
  • Acute inpatient experience
  • Broad base of clinical skills/knowledge relevant to the acute setting, discharge processes, and conditions commonly seen
  • Ability to work across 7 7-day services
  • Relevant experience working within the NHS environment.
  • Clear understanding of the role of Occupational Therapy within the acute setting
  • Knowledge of national strategies and their impact on service provision
  • Knowledge of Occupational Therapy models of practice and frames of reference
  • Up to date with professional practice and research
  • Understanding of clinical governance and its implications for services, including quality and audit.
  • Understanding of legal responsibilities and confidentiality
  • Ability to comprehend and work within the Trust’s policies

Desirable

  • Experience of deputising for Senior staff. Working in a multi-disciplinary setting.
