This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Developer to join our team as we redevelop a core clinical workforce management platform.

This is a pivotal role where you will help shape the technical direction, work with modern frameworks and tools, including AI, to build a scalable, high-performing platform from the ground up.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to gain an understanding of our current workflow and translate those needs into a modern, robust, future-proofed solution. You will help support the architectural design, maintain clean code, and drive the migration strategy from our existing infrastructure to the new system.

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of delivering complex, full-lifecycle software projects to tight deadlines.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale digital transformation programmes, influence the future of healthcare technology, and deliver solutions that make a real difference to patients and staff across one of the UK’s largest NHS Trusts.

Main duties of the job

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop full-stack solutions using technologies such as React, TypeScript, Next.js, APIs, and SQL-based databases.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand workforce management processes, analyse business requirements, and translate them into secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions that support the redevelopment and ongoing enhancement of a critical workforce management application.
  • Work closely with clinical, operational, and technical teams to deliver high-quality digital services.
  • Contribute to solution design, testing, documentation, and continuous service improvement.
  • Support modern development practices, including CI/CD, cloud-ready architectures, and secure coding standards.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience in full-stack software development within complex environments.
  • Experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks, particularly React and Next.js.
  • Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs and backend services.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or other relational database technologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to learning, innovation, and continuous improvement.
