This is an exciting opportunity for a Nursing Associate to be part of a specialist team that supports children with bladder and bowel conditions, helping them achieve independence and confidence. You’ll play a vital role in delivering compassionate, family-centred care to children and young people aged 4-19 across the vibrant borough of Tower Hamlets.
About the Role
In this dynamic role, you will:
- Undertake continence assessments for children and young people.
- Order containment products and ensure timely supply for families.
- Instigate and support toilet training programmes in partnership with parents and carers.
- Provide practical advice and emotional support to families and children’s centres.
- Deliver care plans and monitor progress, ensuring safe and effective interventions.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding care.
- When required, support other services across the Children’s Community Team, including chaperoning safeguarding medicals
Main duties of the job
As an NMC-registered practitioner, the Nursing Associate will work in a clinical field with minimal supervision. The nursing associate has a breadth of knowledge across the field of nursing, providing holistic and person-centred care. They will deliver safe, compassionate, and dignified patient-centred health care. The Nursing Associate will work independently under the supervision of a registered nurse, working within the sphere of nursing and within all aspects of the nursing process. The Nursing Associate will be expected to plan and prioritise their workload; implement evidence-based care; utilise relevant guidance, protocols, and policies (local and national); and contribute to care planning and patient review. They will be responsible for completing any work-based training and associated competencies required by the role.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
- Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification
- GCSE Grade A-C in Maths and English or Functional Skills Level 2 Maths and English or equivalent
Desirable
- Additional post-registration qualifications relevant to the field of practice
- Willing to undertake further study in areas relevant to the role applied for
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate
- Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information
Desirable
- Experience working in a community setting.
Knowledge
Essential
- Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in the context of Nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development.
- Understand and act in line with the Nursing Associate NMC professional standards for practice contained within the Code.
- Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice
- Can articulate the requirements related to NMC professional Revalidations
- Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans
- Acknowledging and understanding working in partnerships, particularly within the Education Department
