As part of the Network Team this role assists in delivering core technology services to the Trust. This role has delegated responsibility for key tasks enabling operational continuity and future development of all Trust systems. Awareness is required of local and national initiatives, standards and best practice as well as industry standards.
To assist the Trust Communications and Voice Manager in proactively managing the installation, maintenance, development and support of the Trust’s network infrastructure including data, voice and videoconferencing technologies.
To do so in accordance with Trust, industry and national standards.
To ensure that all systems operate with a focus on customer-based delivery.
To ensure all Trust network systems are operating within a secure environment. To ensure proper awareness of own responsibilities in accordance with Trust policies and the Data Protection Act.
Main duties of the job
Proactive Development: Work closely with the Network Manager to identify key areas for network development, ensuring the infrastructure meets current and future demands. This includes assessing new technologies, recommending upgrades, and implementing solutions to improve network performance and security.
Network Security:
Implement the highest standards of security across all network systems. This includes configuring and managing firewalls, enforcing access controls, and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations. The post holder will play a key role in identifying and mitigating network vulnerabilities.
Disaster Recovery:
Assist the Network Manager in planning and executing disaster recovery procedures in the event of a major network incident. Develop and test recovery plans to ensure business continuity and minimize downtime.
Real-Time Network Monitoring:
Ensure helpdesk and technical teams are informed of real-time network performance, issues, and changes. Implement monitoring tools to proactively identify and address network faults before they impact services.
Network Administration:
Manage network administration functions, including configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of routers, switches, and other critical infrastructure. Ensure system uptime and performance targets are met.
