We are looking for an enthusiastic Radiographer to join our friendly CMR team to undertake a variety of MR examinations efficiently and effectively for our patients, adhering to best practice of radiographic technique.

Working within the MR department at WGH provides excellent opportunities to gain experience in a wide range of MR imaging procedures, including MSK, neurological, vascular, urology and oncology. The department is equipped with a brand new Siemens Altea 1.5T installed in 2025, undertaking a wide range of MR imaging

Main duties of the job

Westmorland General  Hospital is on the doorstep to the Lake District; the Trust is set in some of the most remarkable surroundings in the UK, facilitating an abundance of outdoor activities. There are many OFSTED “Good” and “Outstanding” Primary and Secondary schools nearby.

What skills and experience are we looking for?

  • Experience working in an NHS hospital
  • BSc Radiography or equivalent
  • Valid Radiographer registration of the HCPC
  • Previous experience of CT and/or MR scanning
  • Have successfully completed training to undertake IV cannulation desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
  • Expertise to ensure the appropriate triage, booking and examination of patients.
  • A high level of professionalism and technical standard of work, complying with relevant Codes of Practice.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team

Education and qualifications

Essential

  • DCR or BSc Radiography
  • HCPC Registration
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Experience working in an NHS hospital as a Radiographer

Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of time spent in CT or MR

Desirable

  • Mentoring students
  • Assisting in the mentoring of newly qualified and junior staff.
  • Experience in cannulation and injection of IV contrast
  • Specialist extended roles in CT or MR
  • Experience in a wide range of CT and MRI procedures with a range of equipment

Skills, ability and knowledge

  • Effective communicator, verbally and written
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Experience of team working
