Medical Courier / Laboratory Assistant – UK Visa Sponsorship

Summary

We are seeking a dependable, hard-working individual to join our team in a multi-functional role that includes medical courier responsibilities and medical laboratory assistant (MLA) activities.

This is a full-time career with flexible working hours as collections take place throughout the week, including mornings, evenings and weekends. The successful candidate will be required to operate within the laboratory supporting the day-to-day workflow and aiding the laboratory team when not performing courier responsibilities.

Flexibility, reliability and ability to operate within a fast-paced medical laboratory environment will be required for this post.

PathTech Labs

PathTech Laboratories is a provider of medical laboratory and healthcare support services in histology and diagnostics. We work together with clinics and healthcare professionals to make sure that medical specimens are handled, processed, and delivered effectively while upholding the highest levels of quality, compliance, and patient care.

Main Duties

Medical Courier Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled pickups from clinics and healthcare providers.
• Transport medical specimens to the laboratory quickly and safely.
• Follow scheduled pickup routes and deliver on time.
• Handle sensitive medical samples in conformance with healthcare and laboratory compliance requirements.
• Keep accurate records of collections, if applicable.
• Professionally represent PathTech Laboratories in clinics and healthcare providers.

Laboratory (MLA) Responsibilities

• Help book in patient specimens.
• Support the daily workflow of the lab.
• Prepare and process samples as required under supervision.
• Support Biomedical Scientists and laboratory personnel with routine operational activities.
• Label, arrange and process specimens appropriately.
• Maintain a safe, orderly and compliant lab environment.
• Always follow laboratory quality, health and safety and infection control procedures.

Hours of Operation

• Full time.
• Paid 40 hours/week, including 37.5 hours of labour and a paid lunch break of 2.5 hours.
• Flexible working hours to facilitate clinic collections.
• Collections are done mostly during morning and evening rush-hour periods when clinics are opening or closing.
• Weekend collections are done on a rota basis.
• A weekly rota is given out one week in advance to allow staff to arrange their week around it.

Requirements

• UK driving licence (full).
• Reliable, punctual, and organised.
• Ability to operate independently and as a team.
• Will do courier and laboratory work.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and professional approach.
• Experience in healthcare, a laboratory, or courier work would be a plus but not needed, as complete training will be given.
