Description

• Provide competent health and safety advice to employees, managers, and contractors.
• Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health and safety systems, procedures, and controls.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and behavioural observations to identify hazards and drive improvements.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identify root causes, and monitor corrective actions.
• Prepare and review risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Support the maintenance of ISO 45001 and other management system requirements.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and safety communications.
• Assist with occupational health and employee wellbeing initiatives.
• Contribute to safety performance reporting, KPI tracking, and trend analysis.
• Engage with operational teams and subcontractors to promote safe working practices.
• Work closely with the Health & Safety Manager across SMT businesses.

Requirements

• NEBOSH General Certificate.
• Currently working towards a Health & Safety Diploma.
• IOSH Technical Member working towards Certified Membership.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001 management systems.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Internal Auditor qualification or relevant experience is desirable.
• Proactive, confident, and approachable attitude.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High ethical standards and professionalism.
• Practical, hands-on approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.
