Summary of the Job
An amazing chance to work as an Emergency Care Assistant in our Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS). Using sophisticated driving abilities in blue light and regular traffic conditions as needed, we provide care to our patients and respond to urgent, special, and planned patient transport requirements.
We want to hire people who are excited about and committed to their work. It would be great if they were FREC 4 (First Response Emergency Care Level 4) and CERAD (Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving) certified.
Key Responsibilities
Main tasks of the job
- Respond to and take care of urgent, special, and planned patient transfer requests
- To make sure that patients always get the care they need, within the limits of this role’s training and skills, and that the right degree of monitoring and treatment is kept up until the patient is either released or handed over to another healthcare professional,

- To employ advanced driving skills under blue light and regular traffic circumstances to answer emergency and routine calls as needed
- To drive high-dependency vehicles and provide low-acuity treatment to patients who need to be admitted to acute care right away or moved to a higher level of care
- Talk to and deal with patients, their families, carers, and the public in a calm, kind, and professional way. Make sure that patients’ dignity is respected and that they provide their informed consent for all assessments and movements.
- Use patient lifting tools, including stretchers, wheelchairs, carry chairs, and stair climbers, to move patients safely and quickly in both home and hospital settings.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements
- You must have had a full UK driving licence for at least a year.
- The B1 category (driving a vehicle up to 3500 kg) must be on your driving licence.
- At least two GCSEs (or the same level) with grades A-C, including
- English language or literature and maths, or a Level 2 Functional Skills certificate or a Level 3 certification in a health care-related field.
Experience
- On the road, an ambulance experience.
- Working with the public is something I have done before.
Skills
- Good verbal, writing, and listening abilities.
- Able to deal with sensitive circumstances with confidence and care.
- Show that you can and are willing to give high-quality care to patients that meets their needs.
- Good social skills and the capacity to talk to people calmly and professionally.
- Knowledge of safety issues related to cars and roads.
- Always respects and protects the privacy and dignity of patients.
Physical Requirements
What You Need to Be Physically Fit
- Able to move and handle patients and equipment safely.
- You should be able to safely raise a 75-kilogram mannequin up and down a flight of steps.
