Job summary

Consultant Psychiatrist – Intellectual Disability, Pennine Lancashire (10PA)

We are seeking to recruit a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist to work as part of the Community Intellectual Disability teams in Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale (BPR) and Hyndburn/Ribble Valley (HRV). The post is full-time (10 PAs). This is a newly created post which will work alongside and be supported by the Specialist Doctor working across Pennine but mainly based in Blackburn.

There is no on-call commitment for this post.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have the following important clinical responsibilities:

• Assessment and treatment of people with learning disabilities with additional mental health difficulties, including mental illness, autism, challenging behaviour and forensic needs, who are referred to the learning disability service.
• Assessment of patients referred to the service at service users’ homes and in clinic.
• Advice and consultancy where appropriate to the Community Learning Disability Team and other colleagues.
• Support, including supervision where appropriate, to non-medical prescribing colleagues, including the nurse prescribers.
• Applicants should hold full GMC registration and be included on the Specialist register of the GMC, or they should be eligible for entry to the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date.
• It is a requirement that applicants are Section 12 Approved at the time of commencing employment and have or are eligible to have Approved Clinician Status.
• Remuneration will be as set out in the terms of the New Consultant Contract according to previous experience.

• On GMC Specialist Register or eligible within 6 months of interview

• AC status or within 6 months of interview
