What are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced HCPC-registered Podiatrist who:

  • Has post-registration podiatry experience.
  • Has experience of managing patients with complex or high-risk foot problems.
  • Can demonstrate sound clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.
  • Is confident working autonomously and managing their own clinical caseload.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Is adaptable, motivated and able to work across different community settings.
  • Is committed to supporting and developing colleagues.

Main duties of the job

What will the role involve?

As a Band 6 Specialist Podiatrist, you will:

  • Work as an autonomous practitioner managing a specialist clinical caseload.
  • Assess, diagnose, plan and deliver evidence-based podiatric care.
  • Provide specialist assessment and treatment for patients with high-risk and complex foot problems.
  • Undertake wound assessment and management where appropriate.
  • Develop and implement individualised treatment and management plans.
  • Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, diabetes teams, vascular services and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide advice, education and preventative foot-care information to patients, carers and other healthcare professionals.
  • Support the development and delivery of high-quality community podiatry services.
  • Contribute to clinical supervision, mentorship, teaching and development of colleagues and students.
  • Participate in service development, audit, quality improvement and clinical governance.
  • Support the continued development of specialist pathways within Community Podiatry.

There may also be opportunities to develop specialist skills in areas such as MSK, nail surgery, biomechanics and other areas of specialist podiatry, depending on service requirements and individual experience

  • HCPC registered Podiatrist holding BSc (Hons) Podiatry or equivalent
  • Ability to demonstrate working to Band 6 level competencies
  • Access to transport to enable locality working

  • Experience of working in MDT

  • Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes.
