This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with young people diagnosed with an eating disorder and their carers.

We have exciting roles within our team.

CYP ICT: This is a mini team embedded into our young people community team. This team is to offer an enhanced offer of interventions on top of their evidence-based treatment.

The successful candidates will work as part of our specialised multidisciplinary team to provide effective, evidence-based, and holistic patient-centred care.

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and be accountable to the registered nurses and other clinicians you work with.

Typical tasks for this role are:

You will participate in the planning and provision of clinical interventions relevant to the patient group, such as: completing vital observations, ECGs, and Venepuncture, running therapeutic groups, coaching carers, and supporting young people through meal support, supporting key workers, and supporting the young person in their recovery star. You will assist with patient reviews and participate in supporting young people to improve their physical and mental health.

The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust, we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues, and of course patients and service users when working in our healthcare settings.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 in care or equivalent
  • Significant working experience in a mental health setting

Desirable

  • Eating Disorders Experience
  • Degree qualification in a relevant area

Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge of mental health problems such as eating disorders, anxiety, depression and personality disorders
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge of basic physical health monitoring and required interventions

Desirable

  • Experience of working with people with eating disorders
  • Awareness of treatment outcomes, recovery tools, care planning, and assessment of risk.
  • Awareness of the Mental Health Act 1983, amended 2007, in particular Part 3 of the Act, and other legislation such as Safe Guiding Children, Adults, DOLS, and Mental Capacity Act 2005

Skills and knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to manage a caseload of patients with diverse and complex needs.
  • Able to use basic diagnostic machinery, i.e., vital signs machine, blood glucose monitor, for physical health monitoring and interventions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong self-management skills and effective teamwork
  • IT skills, e.g., Word, Excel, and emails

Desirable

  • Able to work under pressure while remaining calm and maintaining the quality of care.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain boundaries and form positive therapeutic relationships with service users and carers.
