Job Summary
As part of the team, the qualified post holder will have developed knowledge, experience, and competency in specialised anatomical pathology techniques. It is a primary role of the post to carry out both routine and advanced post-mortem procedures, including the preparation of the deceased for viewing, autopsy, and police identification. The post holder will provide specialist advice to users of the service within and outside the Trust in a manner commensurate with the sensitive nature of the work.

Qualifications
Essential
- Certificate and Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology.
Desirable
- Interest in continuing professional development.
Experience
Essential
- 4 years minimum extensive full-time mortuary experience.
- Extensive knowledge in Practical experience of a wide range of routine dissection and reconstruction techniques
- Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety policies
Desirable
- Experience in deputising for more senior staff.
Skills
Essential
- Good practical skills in the post-mortem room, excellent communication skills. Basic computer skills
- Good manual dexterity and coordination
- Organisational skills and the ability to plan and adjust tasks
Desirable
- Comprehension of the significance of clinical governance, clinical audit, and achieving quality targets. Delegation skills.
Knowledge
Essential
- Good Knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of routine and specialised dissection and reconstruction techniques Knowledge of specialist post mortem procedures.
- Good understanding of health and safety guidelines.

- Knowledge regarding organ retention issues. Awareness of Clinical Pathology Accreditation Inspections.
