Support Worker – UK Visa Sponsorship
As a support worker, you will work with people to find solutions to their problems. This may be helping to protect vulnerable people from harm or abuse or supporting people to live independently.
You will engage with clients, their families, and others around them. You’ll work with different groups of young people, including:
- Young people with mental health problems
- young offenders
- young people with alcohol, drug or other substance misuse problems
- refugees and asylum seekers
- Young people who need to live apart from their families
- Young people who are at risk of abuse or neglect.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Care and support of our young people
- Visit young people and undertake a comprehensive needs assessment.
- Provide high-quality care and support to young people in line with their individual support plans and needs.
- Report any changes to a young person’s needs, schedule or general circumstances to the appropriate person without delay.
- Promote a safe and nurturing environment, ensuring the physical, emotional, and social well-being of young people.
- Support young people in developing life skills such as personal hygiene, cooking, budgeting, and maintaining a clean living space.
- Foster positive relationships and encourage young people’s participation in social and recreational activities.
- Respond to young people’s immediate needs, including crisis situations, behavioural challenges, or emotional support.
The post-holder is required to familiarise themselves with all policies and procedures and to comply with these at all times. Failure to comply with any of these policies may result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal. These have been agreed upon with staff and are as follows:

Education and Qualifications
- NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent
- Driving License
Work Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a care environment, such as residential care, or community support.
- Experience of working alone.
- Experience of working with one or more of the following – people with learning difficulties, challenging behaviour, autism and epilepsy and mental ill health.
- Experience of working in a Support services environment with a person-centred approach.
Knowledge, Skills, and Training
- Knowledge of local services and community facilities.
- Good understanding of current philosophies in relation to learning disabilities and supported living services in general.

The post-holder must maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service businesses and meet the requirements of the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) at all times. The post-holder must comply with all company Information and Data Protection policies at all times.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Employees must be aware of the responsibilities placed on them under the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and any subsequent relevant legislation and must follow these in full at all times, including ensuring that they act in line with all agreed procedures at all times to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Taking Care of Stress
The company has an agreed policy & procedure which links with a range of services and arrangements for staff to manage stress. All staff are required to familiarise themselves with the policy and services to best manage their own and their colleagues’ stress.
HCAIs, or healthcare-associated infections
All staff have a responsibility to act and follow all instructions to protect patients, staff and others from HCAIs. All staff are required to follow the Hygiene Code and all company policies and procedures related to it and the Health Act 2006. Failure to comply with any of these may result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.
