Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual who is keen to be at the forefront of IT innovation within the NHS. Based out of Bolton Hospital, you will be part of a dedicated, hardworking 3rd line team delivering both Technical Support and Projects to the medical services across the Bolton Metropolitan Borough. This will include approximately 7,500 Bolton NHS Foundation Trust employees based both at the hospital and at 25 community sites as well as support for the Bolton GP’s and CCG, which cover 1,300 staff across 50 sites.
With a wide range of technical infrastructure, it can provide a comprehensive and structured career path and allows you to get exposure to many advanced technologies. It is an exciting time for the Bolton healthcare economy with investment and development of the IT infrastructure, of which this role will be a key part.
Strong IT technical skills, excellent communication, reporting and documentation skills are essential.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for 3rd Line Support, Projects and Architecture for Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, Bolton GP’s and CCG with a strong focus on server architecture (physical and virtual), cyber security and compliance, and cloud infrastructure. Providing an efficient technical and system support function to clinical and business services.

- Experience in delivering complex technical IT facilities
- Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp Experience
- Windows Operating systems and Active Directory Management
- Exchange infrastructure knowledge (365 & On-prem)
- Firewall technologies knowledge
- EDR and NDR management
- SAN Technologies
- VMware and Hyper-V knowledge
- Disaster recovery and Business Continuity knowledge
- Windows Server knowledge
- Knowledge to be a lead specialist in at least 4 technical disciplines as defined by the Knowledge Skills Framework Document.
- Supplier management experience
- Large scale LAN knowledge

- Experience of supporting a Virtual Environment
