We are looking to appoint Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians and have 3 posts at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and 3 posts available at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.

The role is challenging, varied, complex, and responsive to the increasingly innovative development of new medicines and their role in healthcare today.

The training opportunity is an advanced apprenticeship full-time fixed-term contract for 2 years. You will study to achieve:- Level 3 Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) apprenticeship standard. This qualification is approved to enable you to apply for registration to practice as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Training and support will be provided by work-based mentors and course tutors during your training.

As this role is underpinned by the Apprenticeship, you must meet the following rules to be eligible for the funding:

• Cannot already be on an Apprenticeship or any Government-funded training.
• Cannot have a qualification at the same or higher level in the same vocational area. (There needs to be significant new learning)
• Has been a UK resident for 3 or more years.

Main duties of the job

Whilst in training, the post holder will carry out pharmaceutical duties under the direct supervision of an appropriate person in all sections of the pharmacy department.

Some of the duties will be in the form of training exercises and competence-based assessments in conjunction with the Level 3 Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) apprenticeship standard, including one study day per week.
