Qualifications

Essential

• GCSE grades 6-9 in English and Maths or equivalent
• 3 A levels grade C or above OR RQF level 4 /SCQF Level 7 in Scotland in Health and Social Care or equivalent e.g. RQF Level 3 plus demonstrable experience and training in a clinical setting PLUS
• Commitment to complete in-house training in e.g. Measurement of intraocular pressure, supporting patients undergoing orthoptic therapy, Optical Coherence Tomography

Desirable

• Previous demonstrable training in relevant orthoptic and/or ophthalmic procedures

Aptitude & Abilities

Essential

• Good communication skills and telephone manner
• Able to manage own workload
• Basic office skills
• Good IT skills

Desirable

• Proven Knowledge of common eye conditions
• Ability to communicate with people with sensory or learning disabilities

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

• No previous proven knowledge or demonstrable experience required

Desirable

• Demonstrable working experience in an Eye Service or an Optical Practice
• Demonstrable experience with Electronic Patient Records
