An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Crisis Worker to join the team. The post holder will provide high-quality, person-centred crisis intervention to individuals following sexual trauma.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Crisis Worker will contribute to the assessment, management, and support of people presenting in crisis. The role requires a compassionate, trauma-informed approach.

This is an on-site role 16.00 – 23.00, and following this, the post holder will be on call until 8am the following morning, should police request the use of the SARC through the night. Call-outs are paid at a time and a half. Access to transport is essential for this post.

There are times when the postholder may be expected to attend other NHS sites, custody suites, or a person’s home.

Main duties of the job

To provide support, information, and crisis management to clients attending the SARC in partnership with the police and forensic service provider.

To provide support and information to clients who do not wish police involvement initially, by discussing the process of a self-referral examination and assisting with the recording and storing of forensic samples

All SARCs in England and Wales are currently waiting to be accredited to the ISO 15189 Forensic Accreditation Standards to reflect the high standard of care and forensic integrity for cases that may be heard at the Crown Court. Crisis Workers will follow processes as set down by the Quality Management System, including a thorough forensic clean of the examination area to ensure forensic integrity is maintained at all times. A willingness to provide a DNA sample for the police Staf Elimination Database is required; this will be discussed at the interview.

Due to the nature of the role, we will only accept applications from female candidates (exempt under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1)
