To assist our expanding logistics operations, we are looking for a proactive, meticulous Transport and Distribution Assistant. This position is essential to guaranteeing efficient delivery coordination, route optimisation, and top-notch customer service. In order to maintain FKD’s standards of dependability and efficiency, the chosen applicants will communicate with drivers and the tech team in addition to reporting directly to the transport clerks.
Duties
Use our GPS and route optimisation software to help with the daily planning and arranging of delivery routes.
Crucial Knowledge and Experience
- Experience in distribution, transportation, or logistics (at least one year preferred)
- Knowledge of inventory software, route planning tools, and GPS tracking devices
- Excellent organising abilities and meticulousness
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Capacity to adjust to fast-paced circumstances and work under pressure
- Dedication to sustainability and superior customer service
Desirable Qualifications
- Equivalent in any discipline to NVQ Level 4 or above.
- Familiarity with UK freight handling protocols and road transport laws
- Work experience in a parcel delivery network such as the DPD
- Must possess a legitimate permission to reside and work in the UK.
- Must possess a current, complete driver’s license from the UK.
- Keep an eye on parcel tracking systems in real time and assist drivers with operational questions.
- Help the transport clerk make sure that the goods are shipped and delivered on time.
- Keep thorough records of all inventory movements, refunds, and deliveries.
- Encourage the adoption of eco-friendly transport projects and automated sorting systems.
- Talk to clients about service reviews, grievances, and delivery updates.
- Participate in ongoing initiatives to increase customer satisfaction and logistics efficiency.
- Verify adherence to corporate rules and health and safety regulations.
