Job Summary
East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a talented healthcare analyst for the role of Senior Business Support Analyst.
We are looking for someone who has a proven track record in specialist information provision and analysis, which is supported by an in-depth specialist knowledge of NHS datasets and definitions, has an eye for detail and excellent interpersonal skills, is proud of their work, and ensures everything is fully documented to drive reporting and analysis developments through advanced Excel skills and SQL.
Main duties of the job
This is an important and impactful role, involving the analysis of internal and external datasets to provide operational and clinical colleagues with the information necessary to inform key decisions for operational planning and patient care administration. The ability to develop online reporting platforms such as Power BI and SSRS will be an advantage.
The successful candidate will work within a team environment and will be responsible for providing a range of reports and returns, as well as responding to ad-hoc requests promptly.

- Educated to degree level or hold equivalent experience within an information or performance-related role

- Experience in data management, analysis, and interpretation within the NHS
- Competent in the use of Microsoft SQL to query data and design reports
- Advanced MS Excel skills, including design and development, creating pivot tables and charts, and complex formulas and formatting
- Identifying problems and devising solutions
- Working in partnership with others, using data to make recommendations to improve services
- Using initiative and flexibility to meet work demands
- Communicating complex issues and analysis of complex datasets to audiences with varying levels of information literacy
- Experience in supervising staff
Desirable
- Previous experience in an acute NHS trust
- Using Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts to monitor processes
- Presentation/teaching ability
- Experience with Microsoft reporting tools – Power BI / SSRS
