Job Summary
We have a brilliant opportunity for a Band 5 Qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) to join the Peterborough Mental Health Support Team with a team base in Hampton, Peterborough.

The EMHP role is an opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions to parents and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors.
Mental Health Support Teams work in collaboration with education settings to provide early intervention to children, young people, and their families/carers for mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
The role requires the applicant to travel around the area to allocated schools.
Main duties of the job
- You will be working in a creative environment where evidence-based interventions, new ideas, new ways of working, and support for children and young people (CYP) are actively encouraged. The approach requires flexibility and adaptability, as well as a passion for working with CYP in educational settings.
- The post holder will work as an autonomous Practitioner in education and health care settings alongside a team of mental health professionals and within the scope of their job description.
- The post holder will carry out assessments, develop and deliver evidence-based interventions to children, young people, parents, and carers.
- The interventions address mild to moderate mental health difficulties (anxiety, worries and fears, behaviour, low mood).
- The post holder will receive regular supervision to support them in their work.

Qualifications & Training
Essential
- Successful completion of the EMHP Training Course (Post Graduate Certificate/Diploma) AND Registration with the BPS or BABCP (or in process or registering)
Desirable
- A further relevant degree qualification
- Teaching qualification
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working with children and young people, their families
- Experience of working and liaising with a wide variety of agencies and stakeholders, including schools
- Experience of working with children and young people who have social, emotional, and/or behavioural difficulties
- Experience of working with anxiety disorders and affective (mood) disorders
- Experience of the delivery of specific therapeutic interventions to children, young people, or their families (e.g., CBT, solution-focused brief therapy)
Desirable
- Experience of working with children and their families in a health care setting
- Experience of monitoring and recording outcome measures for children’s emotional well-being
- Experience of navigating complex social systems and environments, who may have conflicting priorities or agendas
- Experience of working with other vulnerable groups
Knowledge & Skills
Essential
- Ability to carry out 1:1 therapeutic mental health assessments and interventions with children and families
- Ability to conduct group parenting programmes
- Ability to work within educational settings to increase mental health awareness among the staff group
- Ability to make an assessment of risk and to record and communicate it appropriately
- Ability to take appropriate action to mitigate or manage risk
- Well-developed record-keeping skills
