A Vacancy at Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust.

As a Health Care Assistant, you will assist the Health Care Practitioner to carry out routine health-related activities and complete personal care and activities of daily living, ensuring patient-led focused care.

You will record patient information and provide clinical support as required to help ensure the efficient and effective running of the work area, including delegated tasks such as recording physiological observations.

You will provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.

  • Establish and maintain communication with patients, relatives, and carers, and the multidisciplinary team to be able to provide holistic patient care.
  • Develop own skills and knowledge, and provide information to others to help their development.
  • Ensure own actions help to maintain quality.
  • Assist in assessing people’s health and well-being and related needs.
  • Assist in planning, delivering, and evaluating programmes to meet people’s health and wellbeing needs.
  • Assist in the use of technology for measurement, monitoring, and treatment.
  • Ability to work flexibly and unsociable hours to meet the demands of the service.
  • The post holder will be part of the Integrated Children’s & Family Service and will work with all age groups 0-19 yrs. /25 (SEND) children to provide health promotion interventions as delegated by the public health Nurses within the Universal and or Targeted Teams. These interventions will be delivered primarily in Community locations, Nursery or Schools, but may also be delivered in the Family Hub.
  • Lead on group work with school-aged children and support the delivery of health promotion in schools and other community locations, delivering appropriate Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE).
  • Undertake the delivery of the national child measurement programme (NCMP) in named schools under the direction of the public health Nurse.

Changes to the UK immigration policy introduced on the 9th April 2025 increased the minimum salary threshold for certificates of sponsorship applications for Health and Care Worker Visa from £23,200 (£11.90 per hour) to £25,000 (£12.82 per hour). As per Agenda for Change, if you are new to the NHS, your starting salary would be £24,937 (minimum Band 3 salary point from 1st April 2025 in line with National Living Wage requirements). This salary point is below the new minimum threshold and, therefore, not eligible for sponsorship.
