Are you an inspirational leader ready to take the next exciting step in your career? We have a fantastic opportunity for a Deputy Nursery Manager to join our exceptional team at GOSH Staff Day Nursery.

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated leader who goes the extra mile to ensure that every child’s needs are at the heart of everything we do. Working closely with the Nursery Manager, you’ll support the day-to-day running of the setting to achieve excellent standards within the nursery.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deputising for the Nursery Manager in their absence.
  • Coordinating the day-to-day operations for a particular age group.
  • Supporting staff with the planning, evaluation, and next steps for children across the nursery.
  • Working in partnership with the team, providing support and assistance in all areas of the nursery as necessary.
    • Monitoring observations on an online platform in accordance with the nursery’s protocol.
    • To act as a key worker to name children, carrying out observations and developmental reports for each child, and liaising with parents regularly.
    • Act as a positive and professional role model to colleagues and children.

To be considered for the role, you will be:

You will need to have a minimum of a Level 3 Childcare Ofsted-approved qualification and extensive experience in a senior role in a busy nursery environment, together with excellent knowledge of child development and current practices. Ideally, you will have a track record of leading and delivering quality provision.

  • Foundation Degree in Childcare and Education (Ofsted approved)

  • Up-to-date child/baby resuscitation

Skills/Abilities

Essential

  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Proven effective organisational skills
  • Proven ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrable ability to work in partnership with parents.
  • Proven ability to provide expert advice on planning in accordance with the EYFS

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience of working as a key person in a nursery setting with children aged three months to five years, dealing with a wide variety of issues.
  • Previous experience working as a room leader/senior practitioner in a nursery setting
  • Proven experience in coordinating a staff team
  • Expert knowledge of child development and childcare practices for children 0-5 years in an Early Years setting
  • Practical knowledge of health & safety and risk management practices within a nursery setting.
  • Knowledge of relevant professional and statutory guidance e.g., OFSTED regulations, EYFS, and Development Matters.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the diversity of children and families within the nursery setting
  • Accountability – Takes responsibility for own actions and promotes good teamwork
